NM LLC for House Purchase
Jack, I am unclear about something.
Suppose a person purchases a house with an NM LLC. This name goes on the public record. However, would not the lawyer (of the person selling it), when filling out the paper work, would not he/she ask for a copy of DL or Passport and SSN for his/her internal records?
2. Do you have to give a SSN or EIN to the lawyer for internal records or can you avoid both?
Thank you.
...
CA is a special case. Check with Rosie FIRST, as there are new laws about LLCs in CA.

Cheaters
I saw that you had a forum or similar on how to spy or find out if your partner is cheating @ Aug. 14th. Do you have information that you can provide me please? Greatly appreciated! Susan

You might ask that question on my forum (rather than this Q&A page). There is no easy answer but try checking his cell phone.

SSN and DOB posted online!!!
hi-
I recently discovered that a hacker has posted my ssn and dob on the internet in hopes of selling it to ID thieves.
I've:
- emailed the webmasters asking it have the posted removed (no luck)
-contacted his email provider in hope of having the account disabled
-contacted my bank (nothing we can do until fraud is committed)
-contacted SS office (same as bank)
what can i do to get this info off the web or to protect myself?
thanks
Kevin
PS: I'm in the middle of the book and i love it.
...
Sorry, but I have no magic wand to cure the problem.

iPhone Location Services
The privacy scare stems from a discovery by two data scientists, who revealed Wednesday that iPhones and iPads contain an unencrypted file called “consolidated.db,” which has been tracking and recording your location data in a log accompanied with time stamps for the past 10 months.
Is my iPhone private enough for Level One Security?

Online Payment Systems
Hi JJ,
I noticed you use PP as your online merchant. This question relates not only to PP but other similar payment systems.
Q. How did you create a PP account while maintaining your personal privacy? Is this possible for the average person setting up a business online?
Q. I'm from Australia, could I still purchase a "Ghost Address" and "New Mexico LCC" from you?
...
1. I use a nominee. You can do the same.
2. Ys, I already have clients from Australia.

Oversees DL
Do you have a drivers license from the Canary Islands?
My MN DL is expired and I was thinking it might be good to have a DL from another country....since I no longer have residence in any one State.
I am a PT and travel in my RV full time. I am The Stickerman....we have corresponded before.
...
You must be a Spanish RESIDENT to get a Spanish DL.

Setting up banking accounts
If I have a NM LLC, where is the best state to set up the bank accounts for the business? NM, Alaska or?
...
I am not a big fan of using LLCs for bank accounts. It does not protect your privacy. If you still wish to do this, one state is as good as another.

California homeschooling paperwork
California law requires that people who homeschool file a "private school affidavit" (PSA) each year before October 15. The form requires a lot of personal information to be submitted under penalty of perjury. How should parents deal with the requirement of providing the physical address of the school, along with the names and personal information of the students and parents?

I am not familiar with CA law, nor do I know if such information is made public or not. Afraid you are on your own, with this one.

Vehicle registration/Washington State
Thanks for all the great info.
May a vehicle owned by a NM LLC be titled and registered to an offshore princle place of business through the mail from my home state of Florida or does the paperwork have to be presented in person by myself, a nominee or a registered agent for the State of Washington?
...
I am not sure, never tried it. Why not call the DMV here and ask?

Info for Andie
Andie; question 8572....there is a data base kept by Choice Point for the insurance industry which lists what cars and their specifics are registered with a vehicle insurance agency and cross matched to addresses. Want to find out....go to one of the many on line ads for a quick auto insurance quote, fill out the app., and presto, they will also tell you what vehicles are registered to that address. And it is easy to run a cross match to see who lives there....or to run a match on "your" address to see if you insure a car.

No one has the list you ask for. You will have to do your own research on that one, state by state.

Renting
Are there states or areas in the country, the seem to be less strict in the approval process of a prospective tenant? I live in Nevada, and while it is easier to get approved on a rental application, California seems to be even worse. I'm looking to stay away from property managers and big corporate rentals, but they are everywhere in the western part of the US. I work at home, have bad credit from the past, not a huge income, but I take excellent care of the property I live in. I really want to move, but am looking for areas with land and less government interference. What should I say on a rental application that would make me a more desireable tenant? I've inquired about several properties this past summer, they all want tons of documentation, even my taxes for the past two years - which seems insane. I'm looking for a little guidence on where and how to rent. Thanks.
...
The state does not matter, it is the INDIVIDUAL OWNER who matters. The best way to avoid a credit check is to offer to pay a year in advance,

Property Transfer
I just wanted to get your opinion about something. I have a close friend who lives on a piece of improved property in the country which is owned by a 15 year old Nevada C Corp. The corp does no business, never has, and never will. No stock was ever issued. Rather than continue with this arrangement which necessitates the filing of an 1120 every year, plus paying the yearly corp renewal fee, he has decided to transfer the property to a NM LLC. He spoke with a notary recently who has specialized in real estate title work for about 35 years. The notary said it would be a simple process requiring only the name and address of the LLC, the deed, and a corp resolution, and that no capital gains taxes would be incurred because the corp would sell the property for the same price it paid for it. Do you feel that this would be a wise course to take? What would be your suggestion for a ghost address for the LLC? Thanks
...
Yes, that is an excellent idea, and be sure to get a ghost address far, far away. Spain would be the cheapest, if you seldom expect any mail. For details on the ghost address, contact me via email. For the LLC, check with Rosie.
