| GHOST ADDRESSES
by J.J. Luna THE TWO MOST POPULAR GHOST ADDRESSES:
1. A private street address and/or a P.O. box in Alaska, USA. 2. A private street address in Spain's Canary Islands (Lanzarote). ALSO AVAILABLE in the CANARY ISLANDS:
3. A special address that can be used for domain names. 4. An address for a "principal place of business" that includes file storage. 5. A telephone number that rings but is never answered. WHICH ADDRESS IS BEST FOR USING AN LLC TO TITLE A VEHICLE AT A DMV?
It depends on the state. Washington seems to be the only state that allows a foreign address, whereas most states allow Alaska. (There are a few exceptions, especially in the Northeast, so be and check with the DMV beforehand.) MAY I USE THE ADDRESS OF THE REGISTERED AGENT FOR THE DMV OR FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE?
No, never. No exceptions! If you try it anyway, the resident agent will resign and keep the years paid ahead as damages. COMBO PLAN for SUPER-SECRECY
This if for those who must furnish an address in the United States, but who do not want the agent handling the mail--or anyone else--to know their true address.
1. You order both the Alaska and the Canary Islands address by mail, using cash or a money order. (There will be a discount.)
2. You give me your e-mail address only, and I email you the address information.
3. You give the Alaska address to your bank, the DMV, or whoever, and the Canary Islands address to the agent in Alaska.
4. The Canary Islands agent receives only your e-mail address. All incoming letters from Alaska are scanned and e-mailed to you.
Return address
The Alaska address is especially useful as a return address, when you do not wish to use your own address. Many incoming orders do not have a return address on the envelope. This does not add to privacy because if the envelope is not delivered for any reason, then it goes to a dead letter office where it WILL be opened. Would it not be better to have it returned to your ghost address and then sent back to you?
Frequently-asked questions:
How do the above addresses differ from those of Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies (CMRAs)?
Notice the difference between these two street addresses:
1776 Jefferson Avenue, #123 1776 Jefferson Avenue
The top address has a number at the right, which is a dead giveaway that you are using a CMRA. The address you use for either Alaska or the Canaries will be similar to the lower address, with no added number. (Remember, with Alaska you also have the option of using a PO Box number.)
Are thousands of people using the above addresses already?
No. The fact that a setup or membership fee is required up front keeps enrollment relatively low.
How do the two services compare?
1. FAIRBANKS, ALASKA: This one is ideal for those of you who plan to receive important documents sent by the county registrar, American banks, etc. Reason: No postage surcharge for foreign mail.
2. ARRECIFE DE LANZAROTE, CANARY ISLANDS, SPAIN
This service is cared for by Manuel, a close friend of mine for the past 37 years. Other than a few sensitive letters, I seldom get mail there. However, I use this address all the time. It is on my business cards, my letterheads, on some of my return-address labels, and is the address I use when signing up for whatever, on the internet.
All five of our vehicles are registered with this address. There is therefore no possibility of being served with a U.S. subpoena ... When I do receive a letter there, I have it opened, scanned, and sent to me via e-mail. This option is open to any who request it. (Note: This option is not available for the address in Alaska. Only for the Canary Islands address.)
What if I need some special services, or plan to receive more than a dozen letters per year?
For an additional fee, more mail can be handled. For details, contact me: JJL@Xcanaryislandspress.com [Remove the red X.]
Do you accept all orders?
No. I reserve the right to reject any order. One reason is that some applicants are just TOO private, bordering on paranoia. Others have far too many questions. And a few just come across as flaky. The agreement with both mail service providers is that I will screen out such applicants beforehand. All clients MUST use the addresses for legal purposes only.
